HE'S OFFICIALLY A BIG BOY!!!!!

As most of you know, I have struggled for over a year to get Breydon to do #2 in the potty. I know he's my son and I'm biased, but I've always been impressed with how he picks up on things so quickly. I never thought that this would be a struggle. He was even going to the bathroom (#1) by himself with no assistance for me for quite some time...no problem. I have tried every trick in the book. I did everything that I read online, took advice from every parent that I know, and prayed, prayed, and prayed again. About three weeks ago, I knew it was really stressing him out. I decided that "over a year in training" was enough and that I'd let it go. I didn't want this to affect him so much. Then...last Sunday...out of nowhere....he came up to me and said, "Mommy, I need to poopy." Oh, how I had longed for those words! I remained calm and took him to the restroom. He asked me to leave and I obliged. AND IT FINALLY HAPPENED! It's been 6 days and counting! I still can't believe it has finally happend! Praise the Lord! I know it's not really good to bribe your kid, but when you're desperate...you're desperate! ha I had promised him for over a year now that if he would do #2 in the toilet every day that we would go shopping for underwear and that we would buy him a bike! Guess what happened last night????!!!!!!!!! Oh, and he was so excited about his underwear that he had to show his new pair to all of the kids and Miss Wendy in his Gymboree class. That's my boy! ha Here's some videos of his first ride on his new bike. I thought he did a great job!

Today, we went for a bike ride and Bubby said, "Mommy, it's a great day to ride a bike!" Guess he didn't notice it was 110 degrees outside! ha Then he said, "Mommy, maybe when you poopy in the toilet, you can get a new bike too!!!" Sounds like a plan to me!

Sad Day

When Mom called me to tell me about the news that Michael Jackson had died, I was sad. But, it really didn't hit me until I sat down and watched all of the documentaries on TV. When I think about it, my generation grew up listening to Michael Jackson. He was our Elvis. I fondly remember begging Mom to stay up late to watch him on TV, my bedroom filled with Michael Jackson posters, my 33 albums that I played over and over until I drove my family crazy, and being filled with excitement when Mom came home from work with the new Thriller album. I spent hours with a constant stop-go-stop-go of the VCR so that I could learn every dance move. He is a true icon. I played the Thriller video for Breydon tonight. He loved it! He also learned some of the dance moves. I hope that he doesn't have nightmares! It was so neat to be able to share something with my son that was so dear to me while growing up. May he rest in peace...

Breydon asked me to help him find something in a magazine. I was looking up information online so I said, “Buddy, give me a minute. Mommy has to finish something.” Breydon says, “Mommy, you are not minding me.”

Breydon was misbehaving at dinner the other night. I gave him his warning and told him he’d have to go to the “naughty seat” (aka time out) if he continued. Unfortunately, he continued and so the ride home from the restaurant was tough. He was hysterical and I knew I had to stick with the plan. He kept saying, “Mommy, I love you. Please don’t make me go.” I kept telling him that he had to learn his lesson because he didn’t listen to us. He finally calmed down. Then all of the sudden a loud cry came from the back seat. I said, “Buddy, what’s wrong?” He said, “I was bad so I have to go to jail!” Guess, we should have explained Daddy’s job as a prosecutor and putting the bad guys in jail a little better. Ooops! I explained that he was not going to jail. He did go to the naughty seat, but I couldn’t help but love all over him the rest of the evening!

Breydon was in his bed the other night and all was quiet. Then we hear, “Hello?” Silence… “Hello? Is anyone there? I might need someone!” Guess he thought we put him in bed and went out for the evening.
